Fall is Finally Here

Over the past week the weather has become tolerable. Last night we sat outside and it was very pleasant. Summer in Houston is really bad. No-one should live here June,July August and first part of September. The fortunates leave for cooler locales.

But then it is great in the wintertime. You can wear shorts pretty much all the time.


This morning we had crumpets with fruit for breakfast. The kids loved it. When they were ready for school we played for a few minutes outside in the FRESH cool morning air.

I Missed It!

Man, we had a great dinner last night - sushi and sashimi.
We had 4 different rolls and lots of fresh salmon. (added later-->) I forgot we also had Japanese pot stickers, edamame, pickled peppers, and sea weed salad.

Unfortunately we scoffed it all before I thought of capturing the masterpiece on camera for posterity. Too bad.
But I did capture the previous night's dinner of corn on the cob and roasted chicken.....

And I got some interesting stuff this morning as the twins came down for breakfast...










This afternoon Nana and the girls go to gymnastics and GB and I will conjure up dinner while they're gone.

We have enjoyed this last week. The Walkers should take a hike more often.

Day Off

We have been staying at the Walker's house babysitting and there have been construction workers inside the house all week (Saturday too)working on several areas. Today no workers- a welcome relief from that intrusion.

I took the kids to the park at 10 a.m. and gave Nana a bit of a break. We went on swings,slides and monkey bars. Graham burned off some energy running on the track.
We then went to Costco to buy some sushi for lunch but there was none there today so we sat and had hotdogs and pizza. Got home at 1215 for Evie's nap.

Saturday Morning Activities

After breakfast at the club the Walkers enjoyed making up games.
They played Simon Says and had other games going on. Here's a few shots..........



After that Graham and Grandad came to Bammel Lane to check on Patch and play guitar.

Of Bungees and Zip-lines..........

When Steph throws a party everyone knows it will be special. This year's was.

Paige is the first up on the bungee jumper and Bevie was last. Here are those two vids (and Bevie getting ready between the two). On the first one you will also see Evelyn sitting patiently while her face is decorated with a fish.

Now for the crowning glory. Graham had a turn on the zip-line and pulled a Tud. He let go at the end as it swung him backwards and he landed face first in the mud. He came up laughing at himself. Luckily it was all new mud and therefore quite sterile!!!



This has to be the best.

Sweeter than Wine

After our Labor Day workfest (we cleaned house top to bottom) we went to swim with Evie. There were no picture opportunities until we were dried off and she was having a snack before her nap.

You won't believe how cute she is. The Evelyn that Steph mentions is Evelyn Brooks Linam sister of Evelyn Walker's Great Grandad Richard Brooks.

You have to see this vid of Lucie Jones from Wales who recently appeared on The X Factor... Brilliant.

She mentions Whitney Houston and maybe should also have recognised Dolly P who wrote the song.
