The Jet Set.....or....A-hunting we will go.

Tonight we had fresh(never frozen) quail for dinner. Last Friday we went down to the King Ranch on a private jet and were regaled with home cooked ranch food -goes great with French wine- a maid to tidy the room ( Like on a cruise ) and hunting with a guide and a dog handler and dogs. Thanks Al and Steph for inviting us.

We got there Friday afternoon and went hunting immediately. The dogs worked so well and we were lucky enough to run into 5 covies and a few singles. Steph scored with her first shot. I was a bit slow but did eventually break the ice. We hunted again Saturday and Sunday. It was really fun because the twins came with us both days and were so well behaved and interested in all that was going on like finding shed horns and skeletal mandibles with teeth still attached from javelinos and deer. Little Evie was a perfect baby and happily stayed in camp with Ruby her baby sitter while Mommy was out hunting.

I got my camera back just in time to take it with, so I have some shots and video.

Here we all are enjoying the wilderness and the company.

Paige and Grandad ready to go hunting.

Here's a little video showing how it looked on the truck..........

My 2 cents

Just in case you haven't seen enough of Sudie's birthday bash, here's my contribution.

Joe and Gail were incredibly generous with their offer to host the do at their house rather than us all traipsing to a restaurant and schlepping in and out.

Gail must have been attending Martha Stewart classes 'cos her house was immaculate and the food was not only good to look at but tasted great too. The Oz plonk was appreciated by all.

These two chairs were unoccupied even though they were set with a full complement of old meaningful cutlery. They represent the missing members - Buck and Cathy............

Is This True?

.
***What Eric Downward Means***

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.

You have the power to rule the world. Let's hope you're a benevolent dictator!

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

We're only here for the Beer......

This next pic is one that makes me chuckle .........After we drove from Gatwick to Bristol Emily and I stopped in Shakespeare's Pub and had a beer before she dropped me off at the train station for my ride to Runcorn.

I went to visit my old friends near Chester and then Emily drove up from Dursley and we went to see Colin and Dot.
Paula showed up with Little Lukie........

And here's Emily with Colin and Dorothy. My brother was in poor health and only lasted 3 more months.

This is a picture out their window of the River Mersey looking towards Liverpool. Too bad the rain on the window impairs the view.

And here's Noel and Norma who always make us feel so welcome in their lovely little cottage.

Finally a picture of Emily at dinner with Keith and Josie (and me but I took the pic) at The Royal Oak in Kelsall.
